How Rankings are Compiled                                                                                               Top 16: Prediction of who will make it to States                                                                                                                                                              17-21:    Wrestlers who are on the bubble to go to states.

Preseason Rankings are simply where the wrestlers actually ended up.  It could almost be called End of Season rankings without the graduates.  There isn't much judgment involved.  Just who went the farthest or did the best. 

Season Rankings/Weekly Rankings are based on actual match results.  Basically who is beating who (especially freshman and sophomores that weren't on high school)

I understand there are better districts or regions.  I need to justify my rankings going into the state tournament.  There will be wrestlers that can beat a kid who is ranked, but will not make it to states because they have a tough weight class.  He will get recognition in key matches, but I can not rank him because he will not make it to states. 

The goal is the state tournament. 

Example: The NE Region AA only sends 3 wrestlers to states at 103.  I will rank 3 wrestlers in the TOP 16.  A fourth wrestler who will get close (Regional 4th) in the 17-21 Range.  Nobody else from that region will be ranked in the Top 20-21 unless there is a tight battle going on between two wrestlers.  Then I may extend the rankings to 21-22 wrestlers.  **** There will be exceptions when a certain Region is just stacked.
